April 30, 2010 – Inguz

Inguz

Inguz is the suffix –ing

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)

Ing was first seen by men among the East-Danes,
till, followed by his chariot,he departed eastwards over the waves.So the Heardingas named the hero
The rune that has started this month, defined this month, now ends this month. With the final burst of energy that has been held and developing pushes us forth into May. Forces are set in motion as the long winter quickens into spring.

April 29, 2010 – Mannaz

Mannaz

Mannaz is the letter M

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)

The joyous man is dear to his kinsmen;
yet every man is doomed to fail his fellow,since the Lord by his decree will commit the vile carrion to the earth

Mannaz, the rune of Humanity, is an expression of everything human. from the most primal sense to the highest and ideal conception. Our minds, hearts, lineages, social connections, divisions, prejudices, and spiritual essence, are all comprised within the simple, yet complex form of Mannaz.
Mannaz expresses the both internal and external influences within the day. It is internal, because you can control how you react to anything, mastering the personal man, and lettings yourself act from a place of that personal mastery. It is an external rune, because it shows the presence of people coming into your life, and exerting their influence on you. Generally, the influence will be benevolent, even from the most annoying or upsetting of encounters. If you are having problems and find yourself being very upset, or seemingly having a moment that will “ruin” your day, spend some time with Mannaz. Imagine it in your mind, draw it, galdr Mannaz, and allow the forces of this rune to help in aligning you, restoring your center and focus, and possibly clearing the mind so that the right action or response can be perceived by you.

April 28, 2010 – Nauthiz

Nauthiz

Nauthiz is the letter N

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)

Trouble is oppressive to the heart;
yet often it proves a source of help and salvationto the children of men, to everyone who heeds it betimes

Nauthiz shows that trouble is coming, and that necessities need to be met. However, in this case, Necessity is taking it’s proverbial role as the mother of invention. Acknowledge your troubles, and take time to consider them and work with them. Whatever it is, it will open up to you, and show you new possibilities and that will resolve them.

April 27, 2010 – Cweorth

Cweorth

Cweorth is the letter Q

There is no rune poem for Qweorth. It is a Northumbrian Rune
Qweorth for me today was the cleansing fire, taking away impurity, removing harmful and unhealthy influences from me. Things that were ready to be taken, consumed and released from me, and purified so they can go to where they are needed.

April 26, 2010 – Os reversed

Os reversed

Os is the letter O

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)

The mouth is the source of all language,
a pillar of wisdom and a comfort to wise men,a blessing and a joy to every knight
Os reversed significes challenges with communication, speech and the voice. Being that at this time, the planet Mercury is going in retrograde motion, it seems entirely appropriate that this sign would appear. By the nature of it’s reversed position, Os also gives what I perceive and always found to be the answer to these communication difficulties. Speaking inward, as expressed through reflection, meditation and contemplation, in a sense, taking time to consider what you are going to say, and making sure that what you say is clear, and after saying it, checking in that the communication is clear. All these happen best, when silence is present, and so the need to stop communicating outwardly for a moment, and process what the really needs to be said on the inside.
Of course, a key sign of the lack of these skills is the argument, such as my neighbors are having right now, screaming and shouting and using strong language, which only shows that not only is no one listening to the others, but they are also not listening themselves. Disagreements happen, of course, but to resort to verbal violence shows that communication is being ineffective for all parties involved.

April 25, 2010 – Cenaz

Cenaz

Cenaz is the letter C

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)

The torch is known to every living man by its pale, bright flame;
it always burns where princes sit within.

Cenaz is the rune for Sunday, a spark and light, giving inspired knowledge, illumination and personal revelation. The energy of cenaz brings the inspired knowledge, knowledge that has enflames passion, purpose and makes things clear. Often this can be clearly seen in craft, art and invention, where the image that has inspired the creator, pushes her to create. This passion can help one push through personal obstacles, both interntal and external, illuminating them with it’s pale light. It is often more personal as opposed to other runes of light, such as Sowilo, or Dagaz, and often more practical too. It is the more human flame. Some others have also commented that it can also quicken the fires of love, an assertion I would agree with as well. It should be used with other runes however, as pure passion unchecked, can go to unpleasant and undesirable places. Even the most benevolent fires can burn both ways.

April 25 – May 1, 2010 – Dagaz

Dagaz

Dagaz is the letter D

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)

Day, the glorious light of the Creator, is sent by the Lord;
it is beloved of men, a source of hope and happiness to rich and poor,and of service to all.

This week is characterized by the Rune Dagaz, the rune of the Day, of Change, and a rune of Time. It signifies that this week will be filled with all those opportutinies, weather for the light of Day bringing boon or bane, and the changes that will come from it.

April 24, 2010 – Feoh reversed

Feoh reversed

Feoh is the letter F

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)

Wealth is a comfort to all men;
yet must every man bestow it freely,if he wish to gain honour in the sight of the Lord

Feoh reversed shows problems, challenges, and obstacles with wealth, money and finances. Especially for me today at least (I know am posting this late, but I did do the reading on Saturday morning). I think I got carried away with some frivolous purchases. So, I now need to behave myself, and probably work with some money protection spells, just to curtail my own wild spending. Of course, I don’t regret acquiring what I purchased, but I really didn’t need to purchase so much. But they were just so dazzling, I found it hard to resist.

April 23, 2010 – Cweorth

Cweorth

Cweorth is the letter Q

There is no rune poem for Qweorth. It is a Northumbrian Rune.
Qweorth, the fire-twirl, the sacred fire is the rune for today. Friday’s for me tend to be a pretty significant day for Qweorth. Friday is when I make offerings to my spiritual allies and Gods, thanking them for their blessings, and for the challenges they place before me. This typically involves a lot of candles, some for the Gods, some for the ancestors, some for the spirits and wights who I work with. As the fire consumes the wick and candle, it is a way for me to send my gratitude to them, along with the smell of burning incense, and a final candle, a spell for love (it’s Friday, I am not going to ignore the energies that are there). So the sacred fire is everywhere in my home today, with tea lights, offertory candles, smoking incense sticks, and other fires I maybe feeding. A sign that offerings are recognized, being consumed by the flame, are also accepted.

April 22, 2010 – Berkana

Berkana

Berkana is the letter B

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)

The birch bears no fruit; yet without seed it brings forth suckers,
for it is generated from its leaves.Splendid are its branches and gloriously adornedits lofty crown which reaches to the skies.

Ok, honestly I think the runes are just mocking me today. Why? It’s Earth Day. And the Rune is Berkana. Them sons of bitches is hilarious.
With all serious though, Berkana points to growth and nurturing. It just depends upon what is being nurtured. Once can nurture unhealthy, harmful and baneful things, as well as helpful, healing, and benevolent things as well. Whether it is baneful or helpful is up to you and your needs and situation. It reminds me of a show I saw recently, where a character kept a greenhouse with a beautiful garden, that she was much celebrated for. But to the knowledgeable, they realized it was a greenhouse filled with poisonous plants, especially of the hallucinogenic kind like Datura, but also henbane, belladonna, and digitalis. It can work the same within yourself, with your friends, with your employment choices and your environment. What are you really growing for yourself?
