December 26 – January 1, 2011 – Yr reversed

Yr reversed

Yr is the letter Y

Anglo-Saxon rune poem (from ragweedforge.com)

Yr is a source of joy and honour to every prince and knight;
it looks well on a horse and is a reliable equipment for a journey

Yr reversed indicates a lack of skill or ability, and that events, people and situations will be teaching you about the skills you lack. I find it also is indicative of the hands, and that specially attention should be paid attention to the hands during this time, especially if you work with your hands a lot.

Yr reversed indicates a loss of skill, ability, and efficiency. One of things I associate with Yr is the hands, and in a reading for health, Yr reversed would indicate problems with the hands. In general, it might indicate a need to pay attention to what you are touching, and how you are handling things, physically and metaphorically. Are you being too rough, or too gentle? Maybe just the excessive repetition of a certain action is beginning to wear you down, in whatever the issue is about. As you force yourself through the motions, you find that your effectiveness deteriorates because you just can’t before like you were able to before.

Yr reversed indicates a lack of focus and efficiency, where the talent or skill is not sufficient to meet the demands being placed before you. You might have to work harder then before, or work to pull through, experiencing a struggle to succeed where before things were much easier. It’s not that it cannot be done, but that the situation has changed and obstacles that were not present before have been placed before you.

Yr is the letter “y”

Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem (from ragweedforge.com)

Yr is a source of joy and honour to every prince and knight;

Yr is the rune of skill, craft, focus. I often think of hands and the many abilities that come from having skillful hands in creating, or working. When Yr is reversed, it indicates that there is a lack of skill and ability, especially in whatever is being pursued. Perhaps today is just an off day, and your usual talent just seems to be failing. Most likely other factors are involved. Your focus might be scattered, and all of your actions suffer because you are trying to do too many things all at once. You might try to back off, and just approach things one at a time, or else everything might end up being half done. Spend time in preparation, and think about the actions being taken, instead of just following the usual effortless action, that is just not there today.

Yr is often translated as the yew bow by most. Yr’s meaning when it is reversed is lack of skill or ability, and a lack of efficiency. As it relates to the day, it shows that perhaps events of the day may be handled sloppily or carelessly. It might also be an opportunity for learning a skill, and being open to where your lack of ability is, might educate you in handling the events better. In examining the rune of the week, Ior, with Yr reversed, it shows that there might be a need for being open to learning how to handle the boundaries, and also straddling those boundaries as you work through them.
