Happy Spring Equinox

Happy Spring Equinox! Personally I see this as “Mid Spring” as the Solstices are known as Midsummer and Midwinter respectively. Spring really begins on February 1st with Candlemas. The weather predictions done on the 1st and 2nd of February based upon snakes, or groundhogs, or just the weather being dark and gray or clear and bright decides if the first part of spring is going very much the idea of “spring” or just an extended winter. It seems this year in North America, it was much more a long winter, but then February first and second where I live was bright, clear and warm. So it seems the prediction was true.

I wish only that your personal lives can quicken, grow and blossom, as we leave the vestiges of winter behind us and move into the growing and hopefully flourishing part of the year. Things look grim in the world around us on a greater scale, but I wish we can all find what we need to not just survive, but thrive.

Joyous Feast of the Archangel Gabriel

March 18 was the historical feast of the Archangel Gabriel, one of the three archangels mentioned by name in the Bible.
Gabriel is the Angel of Annunciation, who came to Mary, Joseph, et al telling them of that Mary was pregnant with the Son of God.
Gabriel is also the angel who came to Mohammed and gave him the Quran.
Other sources also say that Gabriel is the angel who gave Geomancy to Hermes Thrice Great as a means of divination.
Gabriel has done some miracles for me and I try to remember and honor Gabriel often.
I often feel as though Gabriel is overlooked and forgotten, as Michael or Raphael seem much more popular and loved,
And of course the Roman Catholic church did away with all the feasts of the angels, centering them around Michaelmas in September.
If you interested in Gabriel, you should pick a prayer and set a light to them and ask for their aid.

An interesting crossroads ritual

The following is the text of a crossroads ritual from Harry M Hyatt’s 5 volume collection of Hoodoo Conjuration Witchcraft Rootwork

This was titled by Hyatt as Directional Star

If they had an idea of traveling , like if they wanted tub go north or wanted tuh go to California or Oklahoma – well , they haven ‘t got the money to go with . So they goes , walk out tuh the forks of the road an ‘turn dere face eastwards and would pray for the Lord to give ‘them that directional star in their mind that they might be able to get a hold of the luck that would – even if they didn’t have the money , that would give them that trip . An’ ah’ve had them to say that why they shortly after doing that, why they would meet up with some rich person who would wish for them to go as a chauffeur or as a cook or as a maid to such a place , to such a state. And they would go with that person to that state , make a trip jest by going to de cross of the road – dem forks of the road an’ looking eastward and making that prayer while they were standing there looking eastward ,for that luck . [ St . Petersburg , Fla . , (988) , 159 4:2. ]

My summary:
Go to the crossroads and face east. Make a prayer to the Lord to give them that directional star so they could make the journey to where they wanted to go. They would pray for the directional star in their mind that they could get a hold the luck to get that trip.
Afterwards an opportunity would present itself where they would be able to make that journey.

Happy Thanksgiving

Have a peaceful and joyous thanksgiving!

It’s not about the mythology the USA has built about around this holiday, it is all about giving thanks for what you have, coming together with loved ones, and having peace.

Whatever you need to have that, do that.

Happy Sweetest Day!

October 19 is the Sweetest Day of 2024
Observed on the Third Saturday of October, Sweetest Day is the flip of Valentine’s Day. While Valentine’s is often presented as a day where couples enjoy time together, with the husband or boyfriend showering the wife or girlfriend with candies, cards and flowers, Sweetest Day is for the wife or girlfriend to return the same affection and attention to the boyfriend or spouse.
It’s not observed everywhere and mainly in a certain parts of the US.
However, I do like the name of it, and like Valentine’s day, it can also be a day to honor and observe love for all people. As the day’s name inspires, It also makes me think of sweetening spells in all their variety, honey jars, deserts and candies with whispered prayers for sweetness and affection made into them, or enchanted sugar pot, meant to spread sweetness in the home with every spoonful in coffee, tea, or lemonade.
Take some time to spread some sweetness in your life today, if not everyday if you can.
