The wonders of Holy Oil

A question I have commonly encountered is “What can you use Holy (or Temple, Exodus, Bible, Altar Abramelin) Oil for?

Holy oil is one of many names given to the variations of the anointing oil recipe taken from the book of Exodus in the Bible. It’s original purpose was an anointing oil to be used in anointing things to be made holy, such as items in the Temple, the priests, and later the prophets and kings. For this reason many people have given different names to their variant recipes (all of which generally use olive oil, myrrh, cinnamon and calamus) from Bible Oil, Exodus Oil, Temple Oil, Altar Oil, and a medieval variation that is known as Abramelin Oil. The usefulness of Holy oil has grown much more then just being used to anoint items for the Temple, or priests. It can be applied to any number of purposes.

One way to understand how it has become so multipurpose is to expand your idea of what holy can imply. In making something or someone holy, it indicates that they have become consecrated, sacred and touched with some of the Divine, with the blessing, grace and goodness. This grace extends itself into the object or person. As many people consider, having a divine blessing can cause one’s life to improve, lifting yourself from bad situations, removing evil and misfortune from you, and helping you to attain to good and wonderful things that you desire. In some ways it sounds a lot like being lucky, as somebody who is lucky is able to lift themselves from bad situations, removes evil and misfortune from themselves, and is able to attain the good and wonderful things that they desire. In that sense, they can possibly interchangeable words. Using Holy oil is a way to make yourself fortunate and lucky by being filled with Divine Grace and blessings.

To work on yourself directly, you can add a several drops of holy oil directly to a bath. Bathe in the water and as you do, pray fervently, perhaps reciting the Lord’s Prayer or another prayer of your choice. When you finish, collect some of the bath water, and let the rest drain away. Let yourself dry, and anoint your body with Holy Oil. I recommend make a point of anointing the top of your head, throat, over your heart, wrists, back of the knees and the soles of the feet. Put on clean clothes, and take the collected water to tree outside and facing east pour out the water in the name of trinity, and turn around and walk away without looking back. When you return, spend time in some silent prayer, recite the Lord’s Prayer, or the 23rd Psalm, or the 91st psalm (he that dwelleth in the place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty) and go on about your day, filled with divine grace.

Holy oil is also very useful in cleansing your home and making it holy. You can add several drops of Holy oil to the floor wash, or if you have a carpeted home, to the wash used to clean the walls, windows and floorboards, or the personal spray to be used before or after vacuuming. Once you have cleansed your house, you can then use Holy oil to anoint candles to be burned, the windows, doorways, and other areas to fill your home with blessings and grace. As you anoint each thing, pray for your home to be blessed, for that particular area of your home to be blessed. For example “Lord, bless this kitchen, that the food will be abundant, and no one here shall go hungry, and that it is nutritious to help build happy, healthy and wholesome lives. Amen” or in the bedroom “Lord, bless this bedroom that all the sleep and rest here will be beneficial, the only good dreams will enter as people sleep, and that they will wake in the morning, rested, renewed and rejuvenated” or if the bedroom of a couple “Lord, bless this bedroom that it is filled with love and peace and goodness, that the couple will grow together in love and understanding, and that their mutual rest will be peaceful and loving, that their dreams help to increase each others love and affection, and they wake in the morning rested, renewed and rejuvenated.”

I have used Holy oil many times for healing, both of myself and of others. The simplest method I use is a white candle, dressed with holy oil, that is burned over a name paper of photo of the target of the healing. As the candle burns you can also pray for the person’s recovery. If you are someone who is a hands-on healer, you can anoint your body and hands with Holy oil before a healing session. The blessings it will give you will help strengthen you with grace as you heal, and it will also help to strengthen the client, helping the spiritual healing along by also filling them with divine grace. You can always anoint the client as well to help in the healing.

Holy oil is also of great use when working with Angels and Saints. If you petitions lots of saints or regular petitions many different angels, it can be a quite expensive or time consuming to have a different oil for each being. Using holy oil to anoint items meant for them, or in offerings by dressing candles is a great way to connect with the Saint’s or Angel’s assistance. I regularly use Holy oil with Archangel Gabriel and also with Saint Cyprian and I find the results with that work to be quite good.

I have also used Holy oil with Love drawing and Money drawing work. With love drawing I have often used it to dress White, Pink and Red candles. I find that the love that it draws is always for the best for me. When using it with White candles, it brings in new lovers and friends who are kind, affectionate and appreciative. When using it with Pink candles, the people that it draws are sometimes friends who have had a falling out with, in which we come together, apologize or make amends, and then reunite again, or lovers with whom a deeply emotional and intellectual bond is made, where we can talk for hours and just enjoy each others company in all of it’s forms. With red candles, it’s well, lets just say it gives that would be the meaning behind sacred sexuality.

With money drawing I find that anointing yourself with holy oil is the best way to use it. For myself the resulting appearance of wealth comes in two ways. The first way is that a source of money becomes available that meets of exceeds your needs. Be careful not to spend it frivolously though, as it may also be a prediction of more expenses that will arise that are unforeseen. The other method it manifests is by allowing me to hold onto my money, by causing friends and family to become more generous. They offer up to take me out on the weekends when I need to save my pennies, or they bring me groceries when my cupboard is bare, or need a ride and offer to fill my gas tank for a relatively short trip, which helps me get through the whole following week without having to spend a penny on those regular expenses.

Holy oil also serves as a great oil for protection. It can protect in both a defensive and an offensive way. For defensive protection, anoint your body with Holy oil, and dress a white candle with holy oil. You might also take a piece of jewelry like a ring or necklace. If that item also has religions symbolism on it, even better. Anoint the jewelry with holy oil and pray the 91st psalm over it. Place the jewelry at the base of the candle, or candle holder, Light the candle and pray the 91st psalm again. If it is a long burning candle, sit in silent prayer for 15 minutes, and then get up and go about your home until the candle burns down. The jewelry is now ready to serve as protective talisman to protect you whenever you wear it. You can also do this ritual without the jewelry, or substituting another item, like a prayer card, or a simple mojo bag, or if it for someone else, the name paper and/or image of the person needing protection.

This protection can also be offensive. In this case you might want to use a black or red candle, representing the might or wrath of Divine Power. You can still anoint yourself, in order to help Divine Power to fill you in order to resit your enemies and turn aside their weapons and send them packing. Dress the candle as well, and using an image or name paper of the enemies, or a personal item, burn the candle over it, while reciting prayers about overcoming evil and driving away enemies. There are a category of Psalms known as imprecatory Psalms which can serve very well for this purpose. Keep in mind that this is very justified work, whether it is reversing or vengeance for wrong doing, and you are basically praying for the Divine to smite the offender. This result can take many forms, but if the request is not justified, it will go unanswered, although it is possible a different resolution will come about instead.

Of course, Holy Oil can be combined with any number of other oils, adding that potency of divine grace to any works, along side money drawing oils, love drawing, protection, blessings, cleansing, uncrossing, protection. It also serves as a great oil for anointing all kinds of talismans, but lends itself particularly well for Talismans from based on Medieval and ancient christian magic and mysticism, like the talismans using Solomonic seals, or the seals in the 6th and 7th books of Moses, or seals from ancient Coptic Christianity. One name for a variant of Holy Oil is Abramelin oil, which comes directly from medieval christian magical traditions of working with angels and the name Jewish names of God.

I hope I have enlightened on the many uses and applications for Holy oil and the wonders that Holy Oil can work.

Prayers and Psalms

Lately, I have been working a lot with prayer and praying. One of the main ways that I have been working with is by reading psalms on a daily basis. I have been exploring Psalms that can be read for different purposes, such as money, love, and luck, but also psalms that can be read and prayed every day for blessings and spiritual guidance and favor.

The book that has been helping me with this is Secrets of the Psalms by Godfrey Selig. It describes practical spiritual workings with the psalms, as well as identifying which psalms that can be worked with from Jewish spiritual practices.

To help me with this, I made a list of Psalms grouped by the purpose identifed by Mr. Selig. I figured I would share this list with my blog

Mirror Box Spell for Protection and Empowerment

This was a spell I did for client, who was under continuous spiritual attack for being gay.

The things that you will need are:

A box
Four mirrors
Modeling clay
Paint (white and red)
White vigil candle

Protection incense
Protection Oil

Gay Power Oil
Blessings Oil
A personal concern

Granulated Sugar
High John root pieces
Queen Elizabeth root pieces
Solomon seal root pieces
Calamus Root Pieces
Black Sampson root pieces
Safflower
Lavender

The firs step is preparing the box. Any box will do. In the photos given, the box I used was a photo box that can turn around. Paint the box white from top to bottom and the inside. White is a color of protection and spiritual power. Once the box has dried; paint on the outside, on each side of the box a symbol of protection. The symbol pictured is taken from Icelandic magic and is the Sign of Solomon, but any protection symbol will do. The symbol should be painted in red. Using the red paint, paint a symbol of power, strength or mastery on the inside of the box, on each inside wall. For my client, I painted the lower case greek Lambda, a symbol for the Gay Rights. Once the paint has dried, fix the four mirrors over the symbols on the outside of the box, so they are reflecting outward. The mirrors help to strengthen the protection, but reflecting the harmful forces away. With the box I used, I slid the mirrors into the picture frames.

Once that is completed, take the modeling clay, and shape it into a figure that resembles the person being protected. Once the figure is shaped, take a pin and carve into the chest of the figurine the name of the client. Once that is completed, baptize the figurine saying “I name you (client’s name), (Client’s Name) you are to me. At this point, integrate in the personal concern of the client. The concern I had was a piece of paper, with the client’s name written on it seven times, by the client himself. I wrapped the paper around the doll, and then proceeded to oil the doll with the Gay Power oil, stroking the oil towards me, to draw power, heal, and strengthen him. I then placed the figurine in the box. Mixing together the sugar and herbs, I prayed over them, asking for strength, wholeness, power and mastery for the client. Once it was thoroughly mixed, I poured the combination over the figurine, surrounding him with sweetness and power. I then sealed the box.

On the outside, I anointed the corners and top and bottom of the box with protection oil, and smoked the box in protection incense, praying for the client to be protected from harmful influences, and that the mirrors reflect the harm back up on the sources, causing them to see only what they wanted to see. As I did this, I turned the box on its pedestal, so the mirrors reflected all the directions. I then took the white vigil candle; fixed it with protection, gay power, and blessings oil, praying for the client to be protected, and that blessings and power fill the client.

Make a Wish

Most reader of this blog will probably be familiar with various simple rites for making wishes, or as I like to call it, “wish-craft”. The most familiar one may be that process of making a wish by blowing out the candles on a birthday cake, a common practice among many Americans.
However, waiting for your birthday is a long time to wait for a making a wish, especially if you have a pressing desire that you would like to wish for right now. That is of course why many other methods of making wishes have sprung up over time.
A less familiar but very memorable method is making a wish on a star. I am familiar with four methods of doing this. One involves an old nursery rhyme that goes as follows:

Star Light, Star Bright,
The first star I see tonight.
I wish I may, I wish I might,
have the wish I wish tonight”

At the end of the poem, you then make a wish.

Another method involves wishing on a shooting or falling star. AS this is an uncommon occurrence, you need to assiduously watch the evening sky when you might see a falling star or shooting star. When you do see one, make a wish with all your heart and will.

The third method I know is finding your lucky wishing star. The method I was taught as kid was to close your eyes and spin around three times while under the night sky. When you open your eyes, you look up, and the first star you can see is your lucky wishing star. You can make a wish on that star any time you see it, and it will come true. My wishing star is usually only visible during the months of October to about February.

The last method of wishing on a star I know of I learned from a book of chinese folklore. It is said that you offer prayers and incense to the North Star for 100 days, the North Star will grant your wish.

Of course, there are more earthly ways of making wishes as well. A good many methods rely on the use of herbs to make wishes. A common method with many variables is carrying around an odd number of seeds or beans in a flannel bag for 7 to 9 days. Each bean is used to make a wish. You can either repeat the same wish over and over, or have a laundry list of different wishes. Usually the best number is an odd number, but you might want to limit yourself to only thirteen beans. Carry those beans around for 9 days. You might keep reciiting your wishes over the beans for the 9 day period. On the 9th day, take you beans to A source of running water and drop them in while reciting a prayer or your wishes, and walk away without looking back, knowing that your wishes will be granted. Some beans that you can use are Mojo or Fava beans for all kind of wish. You can use a seed known as Job’s Tears in this rite, but you can make only one wish, and you use 7 jobs tears that you carry around for seven days. It is said that within 7 days after you deposit the job’s tears into the running water, your wish will come true.

If you looking to make a wish specifically for love, you can perform this same rite using a special bean known as Tonka Beans. These beans are a pleasant vanilla-like odor which symbolizes their usefulness in magic of love and romance. Just do as before with the Tonka beans, and when you go to dispose of them in running water call out your wishes in “The Name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit” and walk away and your love wishes will be granted in 7 days.
A very simple rite for making wish involves using sandalwood. While you could purchase some sandalwood incense cones or sticks, the most traditional method involves putting sandalwood powder onto a burning charcoal. As the sandalwood smoulders, you place your wish, written down on a piece of paper, on to the bed of smouldering powder. This could easily be adapted to sandalwood sticks, perhaps using three or seven or nine sticks, and holding your wish in the rising smoke. You might also recite your wish out loud as you do so. Hold you wish in the smoke until the sticks extinguish. Then take the paper and cut it into small pieces and take it to a crossroads and release it like confetti, so it can reach out into the all the parts of the world to fulfill your wish.

A slightly more complicated wishing ritual involves laying out a circle of nine candles. Depending upon what you your wish is for you will want to either use white candles, red candles, or black candles. White candles are using for making wishes for good things, like blessings, protection, healing, spiritual pursuits, peace, and breaking curses. Red candles are for their that are neither good or evil, like money drawing, job getting, love and romance, driving off enemies without hurting them. Black candles are used for wishes to harm or curse, reverse evil, break apart friends and couples, and other evil acts. Make the circle of 9 candles, and stand in the middle of it and make your wish out loud while facing to the east.

As in many wishing rites, once you make your wish, don’t share it with others, as it won’t come true.

Happy Wishing!

Magic for Health

Many times, the problems we experience are related to our health, and as many can attest, if you don’t have your health, you don’t have anything.

Everyone experiences the occasional ache and pain, or perhaps you are going through a cold or minor flu. There is also stress in our lifes, which can weaken our bodies natural defenses, or when allergies just rise from a sudden exposure or a change local climate conditions.

In all of these things, one of the first steps when dealing with health, is being aware of what your healthy state is. If you have a doctor, having a check up, get an idea of what your regular state of health is, and keep that in mind. That way, when that state starts to decline, you can recognize the symptoms early on, instead of feeling caught off guard when something happens. The doctor can also make recommendations for physical methods that can help you feel better or improve your health in specific or general ways. You should always visit your healthcare professional with questions, so studying up on things that you may be interested in, is also always helpful.

Another great starting point for health, is to take up a meditation practice. Now, I am suggesting that you go out and join a transcendental meditation group, or get a guru, or anthing of the sort. Any practice where you can give your mind a 5 second break, relax, and just sort of empty of itself of all the stresses, tensions, worries for a few minutes every day is all you need. While meditation is the popular word for it, some other names are silent prayer, contemplation, or centering prayer. There is a multitude of techniques, and all of them can produce similar results, you just need to find the one that works best for you. One that I am fond of, is taking the time each day, usually during the morning before you leave for work, and reading or reciting prayers or psalms. Giving yourself 5 minutes each morning to just pray and focus your being on God, while offering up your cares and worries, and allowing his grace to enter into your life. There are many prayers out there, and a quite a few psalms, so just pick one, and try it and keep trying until you find one, or several, that you like.

When a specific health problem arises, my favorite means of helping to bring healing and resolution is a very simple candle burning spell. Taking a white candle, cleansing it with some salt dissolved in clean water, and dress the candle with a blessing oil, holy oil, or healing oil. Even a common kitchen oil, like olive or vegetable oil that you have prayed over will do. Taking a pin or needle, write your petition on the candle. For example, if you strained your ankle you would write “heal my ankle.”. Write it three times into the candle. Dress the candle with the oil, repeating your petition as you do so. Once the candle is dressed, put it into a candle holder. Light the candle, and pray silently for a minute, and repeat your petition again, and then go about the rest of your day. You might rest, take some other physical actions to help in easing discomfort and bring about healing. This simple spell can be repeated as often as desired until satisfaction is achieved. A way to make the spell more focused, especially if you are dealing with a specific malady, is to use some thing that has some of your essence in it. If a cold or flu, use a used tissue underneath the candle. One time, I used this with some blood and saliva soaked cotton from getting a filling, which helped my mouth heal quickly, and I have no had any problems related to my teeth since that time.

One herb that I have found useful in all kinds of healing, is a very popular and well known herb. High John the Conqueror. For healing? What? You don’t say? I do. Many times, when I have used High John when dealing with a physical problems, especially related to muscles or joints, High John seems to be a great aid in facilitating the healing process. It doesn’t seem to be a normal association, but I see it as coming from the strength and power that High John confers. In giving strength and power to your body, it helps make you strong, physically and spiritually. Combined with Sampson Root and Angelica, it gives a boost to ones body, health and well being that really works wonders. I often use them in a condition oil, and rub a dab of the oil on the sore muscle or damaged joint, or dab small amounts on my whole body, including the soles of my feet and the crown of my head, if I am seeking to increase or strengthen my health, especially during those times of the year when people feel that it is “cold season.”

Another practice is taking a cleansing bath, maybe once a week or once a month. Like the simple one I described earlier, the cleansing bath can remove the spiritual detritus we pick up and carry with us from wherever we go. Also, if you can soak in a bath tub, it’s a great time to pray and meditate, silently or vocally and allow yourself another chance to relax.

Influence, Compel, Bend Over

Many times I have seen people ponder “What is the difference between all these controlling and compelling oils?” I have decided to put together a handy little guide to help you understand the differences. The first oils that I am going to look at are often named Influence, Compel and Bend-over.

Influence’s name is pretty straight forward. It helps you to influence people. How that influence comes about about can take many forms, but often the form is subtle and gentle. It is often the go to oil if you want to win someone to your side but without throwing down and really forcing them to it, but rather it just seems like it’s a good idea to them, either how you present, or because it just seems like something they themselves would think. A common way to use Influence products is through sweetener spell when you are trying to influence someone to accept your idea, listen to your presentation, and want to follow your plan and direction. Just taking a jar, fill it with the sweetener of your choice nearly to the brim. On a small piece of paper write down the name of the target, and then cross it with the desired action (for example “produce my screenplay”) and then put a pinch of sweetener over the writing, fold the paper up towards you three times, and place the paper down into the sweetener. Take a taste of the sweetener from the jar and say “As this sweetener is sweet to me, so let so-n-so produce my screenplay”. Seal the jar. Then on top of the jar burn yellow or pink candles dressed with influence oil. As you fix the candles pray out loud “so-n-so produce my screenplay.” and do that until you are satisfied. Of course if you can acquires something personal from the target you should add this to the jar of sweetener as well.

Compelling products are the next step up. While influence is kind and gentle, compel is little more pushier in it’s application. It’s main usage comes through when someone has made a promise or entered into an agreement to perform a certain action, and is now seeming to try to get out of doing that action, but it can also be used on people in authority to get them to help you, but as I said, it’s a little more pushier. The main difference is that their desire to help is compelled and thus seems to come from within them, as opposed to be a result of bowing to your authority. One could say the opposite of Compelling is Commanding, the difference being that Commanding is used by people in authority to get people to do what is desired, whereas Compelling is done by people who are subject to authority to get that authority to do what is desired. If the boss promised you a raise if you got the project done in 3 months, and you finished it in 2 and half, and that raise isn’t forthcoming, now is the time to pull out Compelling formulas to work on the boss. To that end you might take a picture of the boss, a nice clear head shot that you print out on some paper. On the back of the photo write their name 9 times and then cross it with your desire IE “Give me the promised raise” 9 times. Anoint the corners of the image with Compelling oil and attach it up to a wall in your home or work area. Any wall will do, but choosing a wall that faces the direction of the workplace or if know the direction to the boss’ home is also a good choice. In the morning and evening stare at the picture saying out loud your prayer and stating “Give me the promised raise.” Really drill your gaze into the eyes of the photo, as if your gaze is penetrating into his mind. Burn some Compelling incense as you do so, and let the rising smoke waft about the image. In the workplace, put some oil on the doorknob of the boss’ office, quietly stating your intent. If you can enter the office before the boss arrives, you can sprinkle a pinch of Compelling powder onto this chair and floor, stating your intent for the promised raise to be given to you.

In terms of coercive force, the next step up is Bend-over, often titled Essence of Bend-over, coming from when most of these were alcohol based perfumes, instead of using oil carrier for the fragrance. These are the products to use when you have absolute desire to have anyone who has authority over you to really favor you to the point that they actually submit to you, often to the point where it seems they are bowed over, or bent over, worshiping you, and they follow your requests as if they were messages from God. This is particularly desirable if the targets are authorities who have an absolute control over your well being in some way, like being a personal assistant and your boss has total control over you, or in similar situations where your fates lay in the hands of someone with absolute authority and you definitely want that authority to be nice to you, to favor you, and really to be very powerfully disposed to giving you what you want. While it can be used by people in authority as well, it is more often used by the lower end of the hierarchy, to turn the tables some in their favor. If you absolutely want them subjugated and submissive to you, Bend-over is the way to go. In this case I recommend a slight variation on a traditional method of working in which the name or image of the target is placed into your shoe, and so as you walk around, the target is placed “under your feet.” In this case the paper or image has Bend over oil anointed on the four corners of the paper, and a pinch of Bend-over powder is placed in the shoe as well. The main shoe to use is the right one. If you particularly want to apply some aggressive power while using this trick, take your right foot while wearing the fixed shoe and stomp it on the ground three times, as if you are kicking downward on the person, treating them like a pack animal to get them to move forward, even though they seem to be hesitating. No, it’s not a nice thing, but sometimes it’s necessary in order to get things done especially when nicer measures have already failed to work.

I hope this has helped to clear up the purposes being Influence, Compel and Bend-over.

How to identify a curse

In my experience with a few clients who have come to me, indicating that they are cursed. When a client gives an indication, I take their claim with utmost seriousness, but I also have a battery of questions that I usually ask, seeking to identify what is going on. Often types, the client is not cursed (which is to say, another conjure has actively been casting spells to do harm to my client) but maybe experiencing some crossed conditions brought about by another source. Depending upon the answers, it helps to inform me on how to proceed with aiding the client.

The first question I like to ask is asking for evidence. As in most magic, successful curses will require that the target have some kind of direct interaction with the magical ingredients of the curse. This can take many forms, but commonly this will appear as:

Powders (often mixed with local dirt, but not always) that are sprinkled or dusted on the target, or in places where the target will walk over, touch, sleep, or interact with in someway. One client, while staying with his older sister, used to wake up with powder on him every morning, because his older sister was actively casting harmful magic on him, and using his vulnerability to curse him with magical illnesses.
Loss of personal effects – When the targets personal environment cannot be reached often, sometimes items that carry the essence of the target will be utilized instead. This will also take many forms, but often the target will find that any hair from a hairbrush is gone, used undergarments are missing, personal hygiene items are missing, used socks are also missing. If the person being targeted is not that very close, sometimes even less noticeable items might disappear, like used tissues or paper towels, any paper with a signature on it, or used and unwashed eating utensils (like plastic or spoons, knives or forks). This can be hard to notice, but it can be used.
Discovery of unusual items in your personal environment – besides powders, sometimes dolls or containers (usually bottles or jars, but also mojo hands can be used as well) will be found, that contain substances, that are usually unpleasant smelling, and are filled with items. These are usually planted in your environment, often near where you walk, or near where you sleep. Some very old time and special containers might be hollowed eggshells, which were then planted or broken against the home of the target. When it comes to dolls, they are often buried, in a box that resembles a coffin, and included with dolls will be pins, needles, nails, and unpleasant smelling herbs and minerals, and animal derived substances.
It is these items that I usually inquire about first, as this is a very clear sign that you are actively being cursed.

Not all curses need to be worked directly, and so there are other signs that are telling of magic being used to harm. This is usually involved with timing. Just as there are times when working certain forms of benevolent magic is useful, so there are times where working malefic magic, that will strengthen it. Some of those times are:
When the moon is waning. The period of the full moon, when it goes to be smaller and smaller, until it disappears from the night sky completely. The idea being that is the moon is lessened, so will the target of the curse experiencing wasting or weakening.
Tuesdays and Saturdays – In astrological lore, Tuesdays are ruled by the planet Mars (If you look at Spanish, Italian of French, it is clearly indicated in their names) and Saturday is ruled by the planet Saturn. Both of these planets are considered “malefic” or planets whose influence can easily be worked towards harmful and evil ends.
Sunset and Nighttime – These times are also used to work harmful magic, especially at night, after midnight, until an hour before dawn. The symbolism of the setting sign being also the weakening of beneficial powers, while the late hours of the night are times that people perform magic, often for harmful purposes.

If you do notices that crossed conditions often return or become worse during this time, which is often a strong indication that someone is actively cursing you, although usually from a distance, as they may be unable to come close to.

After questioning for these arrangements, it then becomes necessary to talk about whom. Often, the client will have an idea of who may be actively cursing them. Jealous neighbors, angry family members, vengeful ex-wives and husbands, bitter co-workers are often the sources of curses. Sometimes, they might undertake the work themselves, but it is equally likely that they will hire a worker to perform the work for them, and supply them with powders, bottles or other means of affecting the target. When it happens that a client is unable to recall any enemies that might target them, sometimes it becomes necessary to recall recent past experiences and look for any slightly odd or unusual behavior. Some people, who are enemies, might be working to maintain a façade of friendship, in order to be close to the target, collect personal effects, and deliver the curse using items and powders. Enemies who resort to these measure might also employ the giving of cursed gifts, items that the target might like and appreciate, but have been tricked to deliver the curse and inflict crossed conditions. The most common version I have heard of this is giving jewelry, necklaces or bracelets that the target likes. When they wear the jewelry, they dress themselves in the curse.

The actions of a curse may also make themselves known. As the actions themselves are often difficult to tell apart from physical illness, or just routine rash of bad luck, until they become very pronounced, it is often difficult to confirm a curse using this method. The best identifiers are:

Medical anomalies – if the curse is affecting your health, you should visit a medical doctor. Often times, the curse does not give a clear reason why the target is suffering health problems, and a clear cause cannot be located by medical professionals. Some medical afflictions do not have simple remedies, and come with chronic ailments, medical professionals are often able to identify these illnesses, and recommend a continuous treatment for chronic illness. Magical illness often only shows the symptoms, but the physical cause is not found, despite repeated tests and examinations. Also, medical treatments, while they might give very temporary relief, often become unable to cope with the curse, especially during times when harmful magic is being worked, as the magical illness becomes stronger during the waning moon, Saturdays, etc…

Mental anomalies – This often takes the form of intense nightmares at first, which only grow in strength is the curse grows in power. The nightmares may become so bad, that insomnia develops, further weakening the target. Anxiety and depression that is continuously not responding to psychological and medical treatment, as well as a general listlessness, or mental “confusion” where none existed before, that causes the target to disassociate from friends, co-workers, family and sources of aid and support. You might also find any bad habits or neuroses becoming stronger, from excessive unhealthy eating to alcohol and drug consumption that becomes overwhelmingly more apparent (especially to people who care about you) when it wasn’t there before. Often when the target visits mental health professionals, they are unable to identify exactly the cause, and treatment seems to produce very little effect or have very little success when a curse is the cause of mental illness of affliction.

As I indicated, these are often the hardest means of identifying an active curse, although the presence of medical and mental illness, along with other identifiers is usually a sure sign of magic being used to harm. If medical and mental illness are present, but with out other signs, the crossed conditions might be coming from another source,

The final method of detecting and identifying an active curse is by a spiritual or psychic reading, also called divination. The many forms of divination generally include the ability to indicate when a curse is active, or the reader maybe familiar with methods of identifying curses. While one should always be careful of fraudulent readers who engage in schemes (usually involving burning candles) to separate the people from their money. Not all readers also perform magic, and not all conjures and rootworkers doing readings outside of the context of performing magic. A reading will often confirm what is present from the other signs of being cursed, and in cases where person doing the cursing is not clear, might also give an indication of where the harmful magic is coming from, instead of a generic “black cloud” that hovers over the target. A curse comes from somewhere, and can often be traced or divined.

If you do find that all of these signs are present, you are very likely the subject of a curse or jinx. While in the early stages, a target might be able to break the curse themselves, when it has progressed, you should avail yourself of magical and spiritual assistance.

Cleanse and Refresh with Water

Water has a wonderful spiritual power all it’s own. While it often plays a backdrop to many spiritual practices itself, water can be used directly in it’s own way.

One of the main qualities of water that is recognized is that it is cooling. As many people take the opportunity to enjoy a pool or the beach on a hot day, or just seek out cool water to drink when feeling hot from exertion, so that same quality can be used in spiritual work.

A simple way to use the cooling power of water is to fill a glass or bowl with clean water. Tap water is sufficient, but you might find that bottled spring water or water collected from a natural source, like a nearby lake, river, ocean is more effective. Pray over the water to fill it and emphasize the use. Some examples from Psalms that might be effective might be Psalm 65:9 “You visit the earth and water it, You greatly enrich it, The river of God is full of Water.” or Psalm 72:6 “He shall come down like rain upon the grass before mowing, Like showers that water the earth.” or Psalm 104:13 “He waters the hills from his upper chambers. The earth is satisfied with the fruit of his works.” After praying, take the water starting in the back of your home, sprinkle it around you. If you have a device to sprinkle with, use that, but just using your fingers after dipping them in the water is sufficient. Sprinkle the water until you have sprinkled every room of your home. This helps to cool and refresh the home, a simple way to cleanse and bless it, and an excellent addition to any house cleansing, especially after an intense or hot situation, like an argument.

This water can also be used to cool and refresh yourself, just pouring the cool water over yourself, or sprinkling it on yourself. The sprinkle some before you, behind you, and to your right and left, essentially cooling and refreshing in a five-spot around you to cool the paths you might walk or go.

You might be familiar with the folk magic of setting a glass of water near you as you sleep. No, it’s not for drinking, but has often been used as a way to bring restful sleep, as it keeps away nightmares and spiritual forces that might be troubling you, at least on a basic level. I find that adding a pinch of salt, and praying over it seems to give better results if you find that you are prone to nightmares or very sensitive to spiritual forces. When you wake up in the morning, it should be disposed of, either by throwing out the front door of your home (or apartment building) or flushing it down the toilet.

This same glass of water can also be set in a room for a day, as it will also produce a calming influence to spiritual forces and disturbances. One method of making this stronger is to add some camphor to that glass, a crystalline substance often sold in cubes, which has been used for cleansing and purification as well. Camphor also has a cool sharp scent and works well with water for this purpose.

Praying over water before you drink it, is also a very gentle way to help do a regular personal cleansing. Water is used to help the body remove waste that is made from regular functions, so spiritual empowered water can help to remove spiritual debris from within, which can be very useful following a period of intense spiritual work, or as part of spiritual cleansing regime.

A Sugar jar to bring sweetness to a new marriage.

Recently, One of the members of my immediate family was married for the first time. She was having a very difficult time, as being newlyweds can be romantic and wonderful, it can also have its difficulties, as you are becoming familiar with a person in a new way. It was also be difficult on her husband, as he is a new immigrant, and was still processing the cultural shock of living in the US, and being far away from his friends and family for the first time in his life. Because of these and other factors, they were experiencing a difficult first couple of months.

To help them with this, I put together the following sugar jar, to bring sweetness and affection to their marriage and new lifestyle.

Here are the things you will need

a half pint mason jar and lid
granulated sugar (or other sweetener, I just prefer sugar)
a small piece of paper approximately 4 x 2 inches
a red pen
a bible or “Secrets of the Psalms”

The first thing you will do is make the petition paper. On the piece of paper, lightly draw a circle in the center of the paper with a pencil. In the center of the circle, right the name of one member of the married couple. Turn the paper 90 degrees to the right, and right the name of the other partner crossing over the first partner. The end result should look something like this:

Take the paper and fold it in half towards you three times, turning it clockwise as you do so.

Then take the paper and put it at the bottom of the mason jar. Fill the mason jar with sugar to the brim. Take your finger and wet it gently and say “As this sugar is sweet to me, so let there be sweetness between (x) and (y).” Stick the finger into the sugar, take it out, and lick the sugar that sticks off. Then seal the jar with the lid, screwing it into place tightly.

While holding the mason jar, pray aloud Psalm 139 and Psalm 140, with sincerity and fervency. Psalm 139 is said to preserve and increase love among married couples, while psalm 140 is said to remove enmity between a married couple.

If you keep a Love Altar, you can keep the jar there, with a quick prayer of praise and thankfulness to the powers of Love, or you can place the jar in a location where the married couple will pass by it on a regular basis, or (if you can) have the jar hidden in their home. Hiding the jar in the pot of a house plant as a gift is an excellent idea.

A Simple Uncrossing Bath

When I am feeling down on my luck, and the world has seemed to turn against me, one of my favorite things to rectify the situation is to perform a cleansing bath for myself. This simple bath is one I use for myself, and sometimes I just use it because I find that it is highly relaxing, refreshing and recharging.

For the cleansing bath you will need these things:

1 cup of Salt (table salt, sea salt, kosher salt, rock salt, pink Himalayan salt, celtic sea salt whatever)
1 cup of Epsom salts (easily found at the local drugstore)
1 Laundry Blueing (Either liquid, or in a form of a square or ball)
A bowl (large enough to hold 2 cups of salt)

Take the ingredients, and mix them all together in a bowl. If you are using liquid blueing, you will only need a single use (about a table spoon), and if you using a square or ball, just press it down into the salt combination at the end.

In a clean tub, draw up a bath, like you would any other time. If you desire, you can pray over the water as it fills the tub. Once the bath is drawn, pour in the mixture of salts and laundry blueing, and mix it around to help the salt dissolve. Put the bowl next to the tub and get inside. Using the bowl, or your hands, scoop up some of the water and pour down over your head, and continue doing this, pouring the water down, over your body. If you are sitting in the tub, rub your legs with your hands in the water, starting at your thighs and moving down towards your feet. As your bathe, pray that harmful influences are removed, and that good things come into your life. I often find that using Psalms is helpful in this regard. The idea is that you are washing and cleaning away all the uwanted and harmful influences that maybe present. You can stay in the tub for as long as you want, letting the blue salty water neutralize the influences. When you are finished, take the bowl and scoop up some of the water, and set it aside. Stop out and let the tub drain. Allow yourself to air dry, put on some clean fresh clothes, and take the bowl of water, and throw towards a tree outside, towards the rising sun.

I find this bath effective for a few reasons. Salt is well known as a all around beneficial mineral, and is used often in cleansing and purification, as it neutralizes and blocks harmful and unwanted influences. Blue is a spiritual color, long associated with protection, benevolent influences, Laundry blueing was the method of keeping white clothing white before the mass production of bleach, and as white is the benevolent and spiritual color, the laundry blueing also helps to fill you with benevolence and spiritual power.
